Steve and his wife Marie live on a small farm just outside of Newnan, where they raise chickens, grow vegetables and find time to relax. Steve serves occasionally as a Bailiff in the Superior Court and is a Poll Manager for his election precinct. Steve and Marie have two adult children. Their daughter Jennifer and her husband Toby reside in Washington, DC with their children Eleanor and Henry. Their son Matthew and his wife Orren reside in Newnan, where Matthew is a State Court Judge in Coweta County, Georgia.
Deacon Steve was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate of the Roman Catholic Church on February 8, 2008 and serves at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan, Georgia.
Deacon Steve currently serves the Archdiocese as a member of the Deacon Personnel Board, and the lead Master of Ceremonies at the Archdiocese of Atlanta Eucharistic Congress.
Deacon Steve formerly served the Archdiocese of Atlanta as the Associate Director of Formation for the Permanent Diaconate, and the CEO of GWTW Partners which has oversight of the use and intellectual property protection of Margaret Mitchell’s award winning novel, Gone With the Wind.
Before joining the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Steve’s business career was in the travel industry beginning with Delta Air Line, Inc., in 1978. In 1999, Steve was one of the founders of The Rubicon Group, a company that provided critical business intelligence and pricing guidance to the travel and hospitality industries. Steve served as the President and CEO of Rubicon from its inception until the sale of the company in early 2011.
Steve currently is a Trustee at the University of West Georgia Foundation, a Board Member of the Coweta Samaritan Clinic, a Catholic Relief Services Global Fellow Educator, a Member of the Coweta County Facilities Authority and a member of the National Association of Diaconate Directors. He previously served on the Newnan~Coweta County Airport Authority and as a member of the Patrons Board for the Nixon Centre for the Arts.
